How To Make Red Wine Cranberry Sauce

Cranberry sauce is a traditional Thanksgiving condiment. You can make a more sophisticated version of this favorite using red wine. This red wine cranberry sauce recipe is quite flexible, so you can make simple substitutions to suit your taste.







Ingredients:

In a medium pan, boil the red wine and add the sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved, immediately reduce the heat to low to prevent the sauce from from burning.

Peel and remove seeds from oranges, then blend them in a food processor. In a pinch, you can replace the pureed oranges with 1/2 cup orange juice and 1 pureed apple (peeled and cored).

Add the cranberries, pureed orange, and spices to the red wine and sugar mixture. Place the lid on the pot and let the cranberry sauce simmer for 30 minutes. You can serve red wine cranberry sauce either chilled or warm.
