How to Make Chicken Dog Biscuits

Dogs are carnivores by nature, but they can digest grains as well as many kinds fruits and vegetables. Although most dog food brands use grain as filler, some pre-packaged dog foods--especially cheap dog food and dog treats--contain almost no real meat. If you want to give your canine pet a real treat with real meat, try this recipe for homemade chicken dog biscuits.

Ingredients: 1 small chicken breast, 1 cup corn meal, 2 cups whole wheat flour, 5 tablespoons oil.

Boil the chicken breast until it is fully cooked and tender enough to shred with a fork. Place the chicken breast in a blender and add 1 cup of the broth from the pot in which you boiled the chicken. Blend the chicken until it is pureed, and pour the liquid into a mixing bowl.

Add the oil, and gradually stir in the corn meal and flour until the dog biscuit mixture has the consistency of cookie dough. If it is too dry, add a little more chicken broth. If it is too stick, add a little more wheat flour or corn meal.

Roll the dough on a floured surface so that the dough is about 1/2 an inch thick. Cut out dog biscuit shapes with bone-shaped cookie cutters, or use a glass to make circular biscuits.

Bake the dog treats for 25-30 minutes at 325°F. Store the chicken biscuits in the frigde or freezer.

When making this recipe, do not add any salt, since a dog's nutritional needs are different from a human's. Though these biscuits taste incredibly bland to humans, dogs love them!
